Cultural Conflict- Civil War

This lesson put names and faces on the differing viewpoints around the institution of slavery.  The purpose is to show that the ideas did not just exist on their own; people actively held on to their ideas against and for the enslavement of African Americans.

Essential Question:

How might cultural differences within a community lead to civil war?

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to identify opposing views about the institution of slavery that led to the U.S. Civil War.
