Pigeons - Pests or Pals? A collaborative library/language arts unit
#SummerSessions
The Language Arts unit includes use of informational text to find and organize facts; reading a variety of fiction texts to identify character, setting, plot and story sequence; and a thinking routine to analyze artwork in order to deepen student thinking. The collection offers materials to introduce the unit, such as artwork to be analyzed using the See Think Wonder thinking routine; a KWL graphic organizer for research, and for older students, an informational article about pigeons.
This could be paired with the following books:
Architecture According to Pigeons - Speck Lee Tailfeather
Coo - Kaela Noel
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus - Mo Willems
Let's Look at Pigeons - Janet Piehl
