Currency and Trading in Developing America
This collection attempts to show the use and progression of currencies as well as monetary policy in the United States before the Civil War. Since the singing of the Declaration of Independence monetary policy has been a highly debated subject among politicians and active political figures. Some argued the need for a Central Bank was necessary for sustainable growth. Others feared centralizing the banking system would lead to a dangerous concentration of power. All agreed a universal instrument for trading was necessary.
