Aquaculture has costs and benefits as well as proponents and opponents. Students will discuss pros and cons related to aquaculture by examining hypothetical case studies. As a supplement to the "To Culture or Not to Culture" lesson plan, this handout provides arguments both for and against aquaculture as it relates to communities, economies, harvesting pressure, pollution, native gene pools, and fish populations.
